Overview

Founded in 2016, the Stockholm Student Investment Fund (SSIF) is a completely student-run investment fund operating under the umbrella of the Student Association at the Stockholm School of Economics (SASSE). With approximately 80 active members, SSIF serves as both a training ground for aspiring finance professionals and a trusted steward of real capital.

The Fund’s mission is to provide an educational environment for SSE students to discover and develop a passion for financial markets by offering a structured, inclusive, and collaborative environment where students of all backgrounds can explore the financial markets, gain valuable experience, and contribute to a professional investment process. SSIF exists to provide practical and real-world financial experience, peer-to-peer learning, and professional exposure in investment and asset management. As a bridge between academic theory and market realities, the Fund plays a key role in preparing SSE students for careers in finance, consulting, and related fields.

What we do

We offer students an opportunity to immerse themselves in equity research, portfolio management, and strategic investing all while managing a real-money portfolio. Our mission is to cultivate a deep understanding of financial markets by fostering an environment of collaboration, continuous learning, and hands-on experience.

Our work is organized through sector-based research groups, where students analyse industries and develop high-conviction investment ideas. These ideas are presented as pitches at internal events and reviewed by the Investment Committee, replicating professional investment decision-making processes. Approved ideas are incorporated into the Fund’s actively managed portfolio, with a long-term and value-oriented approach.

Beyond investment activities, SSIF hosts a broad range of events designed to accelerate learning and support career readiness. These include internal workshops, technical training sessions and company presentations creating a rich platform for both financial education and networking. Through strong partnerships with leading financial institutions, we provide our members with valuable exposure to the industry and access to exclusive networking and recruitment opportunities.

Culture and values

The Stockholm Student Investment Fund (SSIF) is grounded in a strong culture defined by education, professionalism, inclusion, and collaboration. These values are not only embedded in how the Fund operates but also in how it supports the personal and professional development of its members. SSIF is more than an investment organization, it is a community where students grow into responsible, skilled, and well-rounded finance professionals.

Diversity and inclusion are central to SSIF’s mission. The Fund is committed to increasing the representation of women and including individuals from different backgrounds within both the Fund and the broader financial industry. By fostering a welcoming and respectful environment, SSIF ensures that every member, regardless of background or prior experience, feels empowered to contribute, learn, and lead. Senior members actively support and mentor newer analysts, creating a culture of peer-to-peer learning and intellectual openness where ideas are constructively challenged and developed.

SSIF’s investment philosophy reflects this values-driven approach. The Fund follows a long-term, non-speculative strategy rooted in fundamental, research-driven analysis. It adheres to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, aiming to generate sustainable, risk-adjusted returns while investing in high-quality companies with solid fundamentals, fair valuations, and strong ethical standards.
